Tips for Your Best Conference

Alaska: Tips for your best Birth institute

We had some misconceptions about several Alaska things and we thought you might too.  We are excited about the upcoming Birth Institute and didn't want some of these misconceptions to get in the way of your plans to join us!

  • Alaska is so much more expensive to get to than other places and takes forever.
    • We wanted to test that theory.  We checked Expedia on the same day and at the same time.
      • From Dallas-Fort Worth - Alaska is $531 and 9 hours with a layover
      • From Philadelphia - Alaska is $581 and 10 hours with a layover
      • From Minneapolis - Alaska (both Delta hubs) is $405 and 5 hours non-stop
      • From Atlanta - Alaska (both hubs) is $507 and 9 hours
  • Alaska is too hard to get to
    • Not true.  It's a Delta hub and so are JFK, LAX, Detroit, Logan, SEA-TAC and Salt Lake City. Many of those flights are non-stop.
  • Coming home from Alaska is impossible
    • EVERYONE (that isn't on the west coast of the US) flies home from Alaska on a red-eye.  It's just what you do.
  • Everything is more expensive in Alaska
    • We tested that idea on the website Expatistan (and you should too!) Here's how Anchorage, Alaska prices compare to these US cities.  If there is a + that means that Alaska is more expensive
