The AABC Foundation is accepting applications for the Amy E Polk Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship was developed in memory of Amy E Polk, a devoted wife, dedicated mother of two, talented transportation engineer, and passionate and outspoken advocate for a Takoma Park, Maryland-based birthing center. The scholarship is awarded in the form of a tuition grant to attend a How to Start a Birth Center Workshop in 2013 plus up to $500 for travel expenses. An eligible candidate must:
1. Be actively working on the development of a freestanding birth center in his/her community.
2. Demonstrate financial need.
3. Preferential treatment is given to candidates from Maryland, DC or Virginia.
