The new UDS is a web-based system - which means it can be used from any device (computer, PDA, etc.) with an Internet connection (and yes - it works with dial-up). The data is stored on a secured, password protected site.
The UDS is not limited to birth centers and midwives. It is designed to collect data on home, birth center and hospital births. It also collects data on all types of birth providers: CNMs, CPMs, Family Physicians, Obstetricians, and more.
The following preprogrammed reports are part of the UDS:
Create a comprehensive outcome and utilization report for your birth center filtered by birth sites and dates
Create the report required by the CABC for birth center accreditation
Provide outcome and utilization data for completing the ACNM Benchmarking Report
We are developing a custom report feature that will allow you to run customized queries and reports on your data.
Select to export data from forms to a CSV file so that it can be imported to programs like SPSS, Access and Excel. Also export the data from the Individual Birth Center Statistics Report and the Benchmarking Report.
Birth centers may remember the long survey forms that AABC asked them to complete. The surveys asked everything from questions about start-up of your birth center to outcome statistics to staffing. The data collected from these surveys was used to publish the biennial Report of Birth Center Experience. This information is now part of the UDS. No more filling-out survey reports for birth centers and AABC will have real-time data on birth centers. This will be enormously helpful as AABC works on legislative levels to improve reimbursement for birth centers.
Once a record is approved this data is available not only to the individual birth center but also to AABC for analysis. AABC has immediate access to your data. We can respond to queries and challenges with timely data from birth centers, as well as publish data on a regular and consistent basis.
We have designed the UDS to be HIPAA compliant. AABC cannot view identifying information of your clients.
All data that is entered prospectively is marked prospective for analysis purpose. You may also enter data retrospectively.
