We've Got the Top 10 Reasons Why You Should Come to the Birth Insitute

#1: Networking

We know this is the number one reason you attend.  To talk with others in birth centers around the country about that idea you have wanted to try or that new program you heard about. To learn and share with others about fixing your clinical schedule and that agreement with your transfer hospital.  To pick up tips and techniques that work for insurance reimbursement and finding the perfect midwife.

#2: Clinical Track

There is a wide variety of sessions that meet your needs from charting in risk managment to caring for women with domestic violence.  Every clinician on your staff can benefit from these sessions so send more than one person from your team.

#3: Administrative Track

Your administrative staff could really grow from these sessions.  What to make sure you are effectively and ethically billing?  Have you had human resources issues?  When was the last time your staff talked about work/life balance?  We are covering all of these plus more.

#4: General Sessions

Some of the country's top notch speakers will share very timely information on building bridges whether that is to the LGBTQ community during pregnancy, birth and parenting, with communities to foster mothers overcoming social stressors or with the evidence that is clear on the importance and need for birth centers in every community.

#5: Open Forum/Business Meeting

The Board of Directors is eager to learn what issues or concerns the members have.  There will be an hour long open forum before the business meeting to allow AABC members to communicate with the Board.  Following this will be the annual business meeting for members to learn about the important work of the organization and vote on the revised bylaws.

#6: Continuing Education

We know you gotta have it!  AABC applies for continuing education approval in several disciplines including physicians, midwives, nurses and NEW this year - lactation consultants.  Click here to learn more!

#7: NRP Recertification

Everyone needs this, so why not come to convention and get recertified!  This is a pre-conference workshop and registration is required by August 22.

#8: Breastfeeding Symposium

This pre-conference workshop is a must for anyone that encourages breastfeeding at their birth center.  Learn how this community is finding breastfeeding success stories in unexpected ways.  See how a milk bank made a community stronger and learn how you could start your own.  Talk about bed sharing while breastfeeding and see how breastfeeding connects with how children develop language.

#9: Gala to Grow Birth Centers

Show your continued support for the nation's birth centers at this year's Red Carpet Event.  Get your bidder numbers ready for a fun night of food, dancing, tons of silent auction items, great vacation spots and of course, a bit of fundraising!

#10: Celebrating Kitty and Ruth's 90th Birthdays

Join AABC's Founding Mothers, Kitty Ernst and Ruth Lubic as we help celebrate their 90th birthdays!  We should all be so lucky to have such full, rewarding and philanthropic lives.

#11: Cool, Fun and Impressive Pittsburgh (We had to add this one!)

When was the last ime you visited the 'burgh?  It's grown into a top food city, a cultural destination and a walkable midwestern town with truly unique and festive neighborhoods. And have you seen the hotel? The Onmi William Penn is an historic landmark that has hosted heads of state, major celebrities and even has its own speakeasy!
