The American College of Nurse-Midwives presented the American Association of Birth Centers with the Exemplary Partner Organization Award at their 56th Annual Meeting on June 5th in Long Beach California. ACNM recognized AABC for years of support AABC has provided for the growth of birth centers, research supporting the safety of birth centers and increased visibility of the midwifery model of care.
“Through the expansion of the birth center model to now more 238 birth centers nationwide, AABC has supported birth centers in providing a place where families are begun with the safety and support of midwifery care separate from the high-risk environment of birth in the hospital setting. We appreciate this recognition and are enjoying our partnership with ACNM as we work together to bring about optimal birth in the United States.” Stated Linda Cole, CNM, MSN, AABC President.
The American Association of Birth Centers, the nation's most comprehensive birth center resource, promotes and supports birth centers as a means to uphold the rights of healthy women and their families, in all communities, to birth their children in an environment which is safe, sensitive and cost effective with minimal intervention
