AABC submitted a proposal to the national working group on alternative payment models.
Your birth center voice is very important. The working group wants your comments on the proposal. You know this industry. You know that if more women have access to birth center care, these outcomes will improve. Tell this organization what you know so that their final recommendation includes real change.
The draft white paper, Accelerating and Aligning Clinical Episode Payment Models: Maternity Care, has the goal of improving patient care and outcomes for women and babies, while reducing costs. The white paper includes data and information from AABC.
It also offers ideas for how to design a person-centered maternity episode payment to achieve a number of critical goals. These include increasing the percentage of full-term births and the percentage of vaginal births, while decreasing the percentage of pre-term and early elective births, complications and mortality.
