

Kathryn is a leader in the birth center field. She was instrumental in beginning the first midwifery service in Tucson, Arizona and established the state's first birth center in 1981. Ms. Schrag has guided the development of this birth center into a nationally recognized model for birth center services. She is a recipient of the American College of Nurse-Midwives' Regional Award for Excellence. At the regional level, she has worked with local managed care networks on birth center and collaborative practice arrangements and with the state of Arizona on developing regulations for birth centers. At the national level, Ms. Schrag has served on the AABC Board of Directors and is a site visitor for the Commission for the Accreditation of Birth Centers. She is currently the president of the board for the Friends of the Birth Center, Tucson and serves on the clinical faculty for the Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing.
Maureen Darcey, CNMMaureen is a birth center pioneer. For thirty years, she has advocated at the local, state, and national levels for midwifery and the birth center model of care. She began her midwifery career at the Chatham Family Birth Center in Siler City, North Carolina in 1981. In 1995, she founded the Women's Birth & Wellness Center in Chapel Hill where she prioritized making the birth center option available to the poor and other underserved populations. Under her leadership, the center has grown to over 450 births annually and is a model for birth centers nationwide.
Brianna Honea, MBABrianna is an expert in birth center administration and an experienced non-profit medical manager. As the business director of the Women's Birth & Wellness Center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, she has helped the center grow and expand its services to serve over 3500 clients. Most recently, she launched the Women's Birth & Wellness Boutique which offers healthy and environmentally friendly products for mom and baby. Brianna serves on the Board of Trustees of the AABC Foundation.
