1. Apply for Diversity & Inclusion Scholarship to Attend the Birth Institute

Deadline to Apply:  JULY 1, 2019
AABC is accepting applications for its Diversity & Inclusion Scholarships, and will award at least 10 scholarships for the 2019 AABC Birth Institute.

In 2018, AABC established the Diversity & Inclusion Scholarship program and continues to prioritize diversity and inclusion at all levels of the organization, including promoting diversity in birth center providers and birth centers that provide culturally sensitive care to women and communities at risk.  Our goal is for AABC conferences and the member community to include, encourage, and recognize people of all races, ethnicities, genders, ages, abilities, religions, and sexual orientation.

2. NRP Provider Training Opportunities

AABC has added new dates and locations for the AABC Birth Center Focused NRP Provider Training.

These all-day courses will feature skills stations that focus on repeated practice of initial steps, ventilation, and compressions until muscle memory is well-developed for these skills. All aspects of NRP will be covered in the skills stations, including use of T-piece resuscitators, LMAs, intubation, medications, and UVC placement. The instructor will also help you navigate introduction of T-piece resuscitators and other possible new skills, and practice all scenarios in ways you would be likely to encounter in out-of-hospital birth.

Limited spaces are available for the events in Oregon and Florida. Learn more about the AABC Birth Center Focused NRP Provider Training including a course overview, faculty, how to register or how to bring the course to your community>>

3. AABC Opens 2019 Elections for Board of Directors

It's election time at AABC. Now is the opportunity for voting members to cast their votes for candidates for the AABC Board of Directors.  This year members are electing 7 Directors and 1 Alternate Director for the AABC Board of Directors.  These elected leaders will help shape the future of the association. Learn more about the 2019 candidates here>>

Earlier this week voting members were sent an email with their voter ID and instructions on how to vote in the online ballot.  Not sure if you are a voting member of AABC? Here's a review of who can vote:

  • Birth center member (established and developing) votes count for 10 votes, but only the primary contact can cast that vote. Birth center representatives, please ask your primary contact to vote for your birth center.
  • All sustaining member votes count for 1 vote each. These are associate, individual, institution, lifetime, and midwifery-led unit members.
  • Your membershp must be current to vote.
  • Guest accounts do not have member privileges and may not vote. If you would like to vote but are either not a member or in a non-voting membership, click here to become a voting member.

Voting closes on August 1, 2019.

If you have questions regarding the ballot or the voting process, please contact AABC at 215.234.8068 or by email at
