AABC Membership Information

Membership is available to birth centers, alongside midwifery units, organizations, professionals, students, and consumers who agree to the basic principles of the Association regarding:

  • AABC Standards of care and safety
  • Non-intervention in the process of natural childbirth
  • A personalized approach to the care of families
  • Elimination of unnecessary cost
  • Participation of qualified midwives and physicians

Established Birth Center

This organizational membership is for open freestanding birth centers that support the AABC Standards for Birth Centers. Benefits include access to the AABC member community, toolkits, curbside consulting, PDR subscription, IRC office hours, webinars, and discounts on resources and events.

Annual membership dues are on a sliding scale based on the volume of birth center births.

  • $765 - Level A: less than 75 birth center births/year
  • $1055 - Level B: 75-150 birth center births/year
  • $1445 - Level C: 151-250 birth center births/year
  • $1975 - Level D: 251-350 birth center births/year
  • $2795 - Level E: more than 351 birth center births/year

Alongside Midwifery Unit

This organizational membership is for open alongside midwifery units that support the AABC Standards for Birth Centers. Benefits include access to the AABC member community, toolkits, curbside consulting, PDR subscription, IRC office hours, webinars, and discounts on resources and events. Annual dues are $825.

Developing Birth Center

This organizational membership is for those exploring or actively working on the establishment of a freestanding birth center or alongside midwifery unit. Benefits include access to the AABC member community, toolkits, curbside consulting, PDR subscription, IRC office hours, webinars, and discounts on resources and events. Plus, first year Developing Birth Center members receive 1 free registration to the AABC How to Start a Birth Center workshop. Annual Dues: $1325 for the first year, $765 for renewal.

Institution

 

Institution membership is for education programs, institutions, professional practices, corporations and/or consulting firms that support the AABC birth center model. Benefits include access to the AABC member community, PDR subscription, IRC office hours, webinars, and discounts on resources and events. Annual dues: $825

Individual

This membership is for individuals who support the AABC birth center model of care. Benefits include access to the AABC member community, IRC office hours, webinars, and discounts on resources and events. Annual dues: $125

A reduced membership fee ($65) is available for individuals earning less than $20,000/year who support the AABC birth center model of care.

Associate

This membership is for full-time students and retirees who support the AABC birth center model of care. Benefits include access to the AABC member community, IRC office hours, webinars, and discounts on resources and events. Annual dues: $65

Lifetime

Lifetime membership is for individuals who support the AABC birth center model of care. Benefits include access to the AABC member community, IRC office hours, webinars, and discounts on resources and events. One time dues: $2750
