Pennsylvania - Finance Consultant

The Midwife Center is looking for an independent finance consultant to provide executive-level financial oversight and planning for its nonprofit birth center in Pittsburgh, PA.

We are looking for someone with a background in healthcare finance and accounting (preferably in a birth center) to provide consulting services for approximately 10-20 hours a month for $75 an hour starting in December 2026, billed monthly upon invoice. The consulting engagement is primarily remote.

Finance Consultant Scope of Work

• Support the annual budgeting process in collaboration with the Executive Director and other leadership staff.
• Support TMC’s strategic plan with financial forecasting and cost benefit analyses of current and potential services.
• Support TMC’s annual financial audit process and Form 990 and BCO filing. 
• Provide monthly finance reports based on TMC’s bookkeeper income and balance sheet statements for staff leadership and board of directors and present at meetings as needed.
• Advise the Executive Director and Finance Manager on cash flow and reserve strategies and investment policies.
• Advise the Finance Manager on best practices for internal reporting systems and GAAP guidelines.
• Advise the Executive Director and Finance Manager on insurance contract negotiations.
• Advise the People & Culture Senior Manager on market data for salary and benefit competitiveness and financial implications of personnel policy changes.
