Located in beautiful Santa Barbara, CA, the Santa Barbara Birth Center is a dynamic and close-knit practice offering both home birth and birth center services. Our midwifery practice has served families for decades, with our beloved Birth Center celebrating 14 years of exceptional care.

We're excited to be pursuing AABC accreditation and state licensure to become MediCal providers - expanding access to midwifery care for all families in our community. Join us during this pivotal growth phase!

Role Description

We have an opening for a Certified Nurse Midwife or Licensed Midwife to join our collaborative team!

Timeline

Training and onboarding begin mid-fall 2025, with position starting December 2025.

What You'll Do

  • Provide comprehensive prenatal, birth, and postpartum care in both home and birth center settings
  • Manage client communication, documentation, and clinical responsibilities
  • Participate in clinic days, staff meetings and on-call rotations with our supportive team
  • Maintain our high standards for clinical excellence and warm, personalized care
  • Collaborate closely with community healthcare professionals to ensure optimal outcomes 

Qualifications

✅ Current California licensure as CNM (Certified Nurse Midwife) or LM (Licensed Midwife)


✅ NRP and BLS certification


✅ Experience in out-of-hospital midwifery care (new graduates encouraged to apply!)


✅ Family planning and well-woman care experience preferred

✅ Exceptional communication skills and commitment to collaborative care


✅ Passion for high-quality maternal and infant care


✅ Spanish language competency desired, not required
