Ann GeislerThe American Association of Birth Centers (AABC) Foundation is proud to announce that Ann Geisler has been honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award for her extraordinary leadership, advocacy, and enduring commitment to advancing birth center care across the nation. The award was presented during the AABC Birth Institute Awards Brunch in Portland, Oregon.

Ann joined the AABC Foundation Board in 2013 and quickly became a driving force behind the organization’s growth and impact. She served as Board President from 2015 to 2021 and most recently as Past President and Chair of the Governance Committee, guiding the Foundation with vision, integrity, and compassion.

Under her leadership, the Foundation launched new giving programs such as Research Grants and Accreditation Grants, hosted innovative fundraisers like Spring It On!, and established its first endowment. Her tireless efforts as a fundraiser and advocate have ensured the Foundation’s long-term sustainability and expanded its ability to support midwives and birth centers nationwide.

Ann’s connection to midwifery began in the early 1990s, inspired by leaders such as Jennie Joseph and Kitty Ernst, who shaped her deep belief in the power and importance of midwifery care. As she once shared, “Once you witness the benefits of natural childbirth supported by midwives, you cannot help but be changed.”

AABCF extends its deepest gratitude to Ann Geisler for her vision, service, and lasting contributions to the field. Her legacy will continue to inspire and empower future generations of midwives and advocates for years to come.
