Midwifery Policy Collectives Announces State Team Awards
The Midwifery Policy Collective is excited to announce the selection of 10 state teams that are championing access to midwifery care in their local communities! The selected teams represent Alabama, California, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Mississippi, New Jersey, North Carolina, North Dakota, and Ohio. The teams in each of these states assembled multi-disciplinary coalitions that center birthing people and families while bringing together expertise in midwifery, policy, and advocacy.
Over the course of 15 months, the teams will participate in programming designed by the Midwifery Policy Collective and receive funding to advance their local policy priorities, including recognition of different midwife credentials, expanded access to birth centers, and greater Medicaid reimbursement for midwifery services, among others.
The Midwifery Policy Collective, funded by the Pritzker Children's Initiative (PCI) , is a partnership among the American Association of Birth Centers, Birth Center Equity, Birth Place Lab, Elephant Circle, Institute for Medicaid Innovation, National Association for the Advancement of Black Birth, and National Association of Certified Professional Midwives.
