This position for a flexible FTE Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM) involves providing full-scope midwifery care, including antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and well-woman services, within a freestanding birth center environment. CNMs are expected to maintain privileges at nearby hospitals, where they also attend VBAC births.
Key Qualifications:
- Education/Certification: Graduate of an accredited nursing and formal Nurse-Midwife training program; active or eligible for an MN APRN license, prescription writing privileges, AMCB certification, DEA, NRP, and BLS certification.
- Requirements: Must be able to obtain credentials at Abbott and United Hospitals.
- Qualities: Commitment to out-of-hospital birth, strong interpersonal communication, clinical competence, cooperative teamwork, and leadership ability.
- Physical: Must be able to lift 50 pounds, navigate stairs, and support various birth positions (e.g., kneeling, waterbirth).
Responsibilities & Schedule:
- Workload: Full-time staff are scheduled for 10 units per two-week pay period (1 clinic shift = 1 unit; 24 hours of call = 2 units); 0.9 FTE are scheduled for 9 units per pay period; 0.8 FTE are scheduled for 8 per pay period, etc.
- Clinical: Includes patient exams, taking medical history, ultrasound reviews, and facilitating client orientation.
- On-Call: Requires residing within 30 minutes of the birth centers, coordinating with birth assistants, and providing care in birth centers and hospitals.
- Administrative/Professional: Charting within 48 hours, completing birth statistics, attending quarterly staff meetings and required clinical drills, and staying updated on policies.
- Leadership: CNMs are expected to model company values, foster positive workplace culture, manage resources effectively, and maintain high professional and ethical standards consistent with the ACNM Code of Ethics. Proficiency with EMR systems (AdvancedMD) is required.
New grad salary starts at $91,000 annually + benefits
