Texas - CPM (Certified Professional Midwife)

Heart of Houston Birth and Wellness Center has provided personalized, compassionate midwifery care to hundreds of parents over the past 5 years here in the Houston metro area. We are a team of 1 CNM and 2 CPMs currently. One of our CPMs is moving out of state and we are looking for another midwife to replace her. We are hoping for a starting date around May 1st, 2026, depending on orientation/training timeline depending on experience level.

Our current volume is about 6-10 births per month.  We offer primarily birth center births with an occasional home-birth. We also offer hour-long visits to allow time for questions, education, and discussion. Our CNM also provides wellness care, gynecology, contraception, fertility consults, and IUI!

Must reliably commute to birth center in Houston/Bellaire 77081, within 30-45 minutes.

Duties

• Full-time schedule of clinic and call shifts, with an average of two clinic days per week and approximately 10-13 call shifts per month. At least one weekend off every month.
• Provide comprehensive prenatal care to low-risk pregnant individuals, including physical examinations and prenatal screenings.
• Provide support and guidance during labor and delivery.
• Perform necessary medical procedures such as IV insertion, providing IV medications, and suturing when required.
• Provide postpartum care, including physical examinations, breastfeeding support, and emotional counseling. 24-48hr Postpartum home visits by midwife.
• Provide care to well newborns as needed- most of our newborns are seen by pediatricians in the first week of life.
• Participation in midwife meetings and case review.
• Participation in OB emergency drills.
• Precept midwifery students according to your experience level.

Prefer an experienced midwife (new midwives encouraged to apply)

• Current NARM certification
• Current licensure as midwife in Texas
• BLS and NRP certification
