New York - Licensed Midwife (Full Time)
About Our Practice
Holistic Birth Center New York, located at 840 Lefferts Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11203, believes birth is a profound human experience that deserves to be approached with trust, skill, compassion, and respect for the body’s innate wisdom. Our peaceful, private, nurturing center supports families through pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum with comprehensive prenatal care, labor support, natural and water birth options, and postpartum and newborn care through six weeks. Safety and evidence-based care remain central to everything we do.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide full-scope midwifery care
- Attend births at our birth center and at our affiliated hospital only when a client requires transfer
- Conduct occasional home visits for postpartum care
- Support physiologic, low-intervention birth, including water birth when appropriate
- Offer individualized education at each visit to support informed decision-making
- Collaborate with midwives, birth assistants, physicians, and nurses to ensure safe care
- Maintain accurate documentation and participate in quality improvement and peer review
Schedule
- Full-time role based in Brooklyn, NY
- Mix of clinical and on-call work with 12-hour shifts
- Typically 1–2 office days per week
- Approximately one weekend of call per month
Compensation and Benefits
- Expected salary range $145,000–$170,000 annually
- Annual bonus of $20,000 based on performance and organizational goals
- PTO: 5 sick days and 3 weeks of vacation in year one, increasing to 4 weeks in year two
- 401(k) plan with employer match up to 4% of salary
- Medical insurance options discussed with the practice owner
Qualifications
- Master’s or Doctoral degree from an accredited nurse-midwifery program
- AMCB certification and eligibility for RN and CNM licensure in New York
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NRP (may be obtained before first clinical day)
- Licensed midwife committed to trauma-informed, culturally humble care
